The stone fences are impressive! They must've taken such a long time to build. The farmers who settled in this part of Maryland would just loosely pile the rocks found while ploughing the field at the edge of their property making loosely piled stone fences. They didn't bother with creating miles of masonry as I see there. That's a lot of effort to keep the sheep and cows in, but stone fences definitely age better than other types of fencing.
